




Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Gamma Nu Omega Chapter of Columbia, South Carolina has a rich history rooted in scholarship, service and sisterhood. It is with great pleasure that I offer myself in service as the 2025-2026 President of this great chapter. Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority since 1908 and Gamma Nu Omega has served this community since 1942. With over 350 active members dedicated to serving the greater Midlands and home to four former members of the International Board of Directors: 29th International President, Dr. Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson; International Assistant Secretary and Editor-in-Chief ®, Dr. Earnestine Green McNealey; 5th South Atlantic Regional Director, Mrs. Odessa Nelson (deceased); and, 18th South Atlantic Regional Director, Mrs. Sharon Brown Harriott, we are Standing On Business and Serving Together.
The members of Gamma Nu Omega are committed to serving our community with the programs of our current International President, Danette Anthony Reed under the theme “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.” Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's mission is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of "Service to All Mankind."
As we navigate the the times that we find ourselves in, there is a place for every member to serve giving of their time and talents. I challenge each member to Soar while we serve our community.
