2019 Housing Board of Directors during Mortgage Payoff Celebration and dedication of new sign.
The impact of Gamma Nu Omega members can be felt beyond its house walls that were secured in the heart of Columbia on January 5, 1981. As the chapter grew, an extension was financed for the house on July 6, 2000, and the dedication of the new addition was held in December of 2001. On February 20, 2019, the final mortgage payment was made 7-months early by the invigorating women of the Genteel Gamma Nu Omega Chapter and the property on 1203 Ashley Street affectionately called the “home” is ours.

On Saturday, June 22, 2019 a Mortgage Pay-Off Event was held to commemorate the paying off of the mortgage and to honor three deceased sorors who were former Housing Board Members that worked hard in giving us our beautiful Sorority House. Souvenirs were provided to commemorate the event and new signage was unveiled.

In February 2017, Mayor Steven Benjamin and the Columbia City Council honored the chapter for 75 years of contributions to the community with the honorary street naming of several blocks near the sorority house - on the west side “Alpha Kappa Alpha Way” and on the east side “Gamma Nu Omega Way”.
